1. Sleep

Getting the right amount of sleep not only helps you look more relaxed, it can help you maintain your waistline. Harvard Women’s Health Watch notes, “Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.” How much sleep do you need? It’s different for everyone, but 7-9 hours is the average for healthy adults.


2. Water

Sometimes beauty does come in a bottle. Healthier skin and hair are just two of the beauty benefits associated with getting 6-8 glasses of water a day. Pour your daily dose into a sports bottle so it’s easy to sip your way through the day. And try to avoid sodas and other sweetened drinks. It’s hard to develop a taste for water if you’re used to sugary blasts of corn syrup or artificial sweetener.


3. Activity

Like sleep, the amount of activity you need to feel and look your best is completely individual. There are so many ways to lose weight, gain strength, and improve flexibility, but the “right” one is the one you enjoy doing.
